Apparently Baltimore is where the Buffalo Roam

Saw this story on FoxNews.com and I just had to post it.

"Tuesday, April 26, 2005

PIKESVILLE, Md. — Police spent about two hours Tuesday morning corralling a herd of buffalo that somehow got loose and wandered around an upscale residential community in suburban Baltimore, disrupting traffic and alarming homeowners.

County police used 13 police cars, members of their tactical unit and a police helicopter to herd about ten animals onto the tennis court of an apartment complex, police spokesman Shawn Vinson said.

Vinson said officers had to master the art of buffalo herding on the job.

"Somehow they figured it out, I've got to give a lot of credit to the creativity of our officers," Vinson said.

Vinson said police know where the buffalo came from and the owner has been identified, but the owner's name was not immediately available.

The unusual drama began about 7 a.m. when residents near the intersection of Anton Farms Road and Stevenson Road reported the buffalo meandering along the road. The community is one of large, relatively newly built single family homes sitting on multiple-acre lots. Police shut down several major traffic arteries, including a section of the Baltimore Beltway, as a precaution as they tried to anticipate which way the buffalo would roam."

Ahhh... I miss Baltimore, can't wait to come home this weekend!

Stupid cheaters

So I'm walking into my STAT class around 15 minutes before it starts. The other STAT class before us is frantically trying to finish a test so I just took a seat and started looking around the room. I wasn't looking for no more than 10 seconds when I see a kid, one row back and across the aisle from me, whose eyes were darting to and from his neighbor's paper. So I first think, dang how obvious can this guy be, but maybe he isn't cheating (maybe just frustrated and stretching). So I watched him for the next five minutes or so, he isn't even writing anything down, he is just waiting for the kid next to him to shift enough so he can look at his paper and scantron, then he would write something down. So at this point I got Chong, Greg, and Joe who were sitting in front of me, to watch this kid. They agreed with me that he was cheating, and was making it incredibly obvious. I mean seriously, he didn't even try to work on his test, he was putting all his effort into seeing his neighbor's test. At this point I decided, ok that's enough, I went up and interrupted the professor, who was helping another student, and told him. He didn't do anything right there, but he thanked me and went back to helping the student. Who knows I'll probably have to go testify at some stupid Honor Court proceding, but then again maybe this will help stop stuff like this from happening. I have known way to many people who cheated on Computer Engineering projects, and somehow get away with it, so at least one got caught this time.
